Pumpkins

I recently started doing something I've wanted to do for a long time. Grow my own pumpkins from scratch!

I planted 3 seeds which quickly sprouted.

I repotted them about a week ago and they've already grown this much!!!

Fishbourne

Yesterday I went to the small village of Fishbourne which is near Chichester in Sussex.

First we visited the remains of a Roman Palace with some very well preserved mosaics and a good musuem explaining the history of the site.

Next we took a walk alongside Chichester Harbour. It was a beautiful day with calm, sparkling and plane free skies. Except for one pulling a UKIP banner.

We had dinner in the Crown and Anchor pub which we stumbled upon half way along our walk. It had an outdoor seating area overlooking the water and simple but tasty food.

We then headed back into Fishbourne, catching a glimpse of Chichester in distance.

A walk in the New Forest

I went for a walk in the New Forest in Hampshire.

It started off in the Churchyard of St Nicholas' Church in Brockenhurst. It hosts the grave of Brusher Mills, a 19th Century snakecatcher who caught thousands of snakes in the New Forest. A pub in Brockenhurst is named The Snakecatcher in his memory.

The path then meandered through a woodland nature reserve and then out into open farmland

It was an unusually sunny and dry and these pigs seemed to be enjoying the good weather.

I then headed into Ivy Wood, enjoying the bright spring flowers beside the river Lymington before returning to Brockenhurst and its impressive period buildings.
